IF YOU LOOK UP the word tohubohu, you'll find that it's originally from ancient Hebrew, appearing in Genesis 1:2, where it refers to the empty, unformed Earth before creation. Los Angeles performance artist Rachel Rosenthal has named her improvisational performance company TOHUBOHU!

OF COURSE I KNEW OF BAD-BOY provocateur Alexander McQueen's reputation as a brilliant couturier, with words like "artist" used to describe him, but such hyperbole is thrown about willy-nilly in the fashion world, and I just assumed it was an exaggerated way of saying he was really talented.
