Artillery is looking for interns; Editorial Assistant and Publisher Assistant

This is a nonpaying position

Hours: 8/per week (4 hours at the Artillery location and 4 hours from home)

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Artillery is the premier contemporary art publication based in Los Angeles with writer around the world. In September 2011, we celebrated five years in print and starting in January, Artillery will be nationally distributed at newsstands, bookstores and museums. We will continue to be free at Los Angeles galleries, college campuses and major U.S. art fairs. Artillery is the only contemporary art magazine being distributed in the rooms of both Los Angeles Standard Hotels and the Phoenix Hotel In San Francisco. While our printed magazine is the main focus, Artillery also has an active outreach program with www.artillerymag.com, YouTube videos and events (including debates, panel discussions, movie screenings and live readings).

INTERNSHIPS DESCRIPTION:

Duties:
Assistant to the editor will be expected to work through the editorial cycle with editor cycle with editor Tulsa Kinney . The Intern will engage in every aspect of editorial production, from light proofreading, headlines and captions to editorial page design. They will also order graphics and permissions from galleries and other sources. Some clerical duties will be involved as well. Software program knowledge or Adobe CS and Microsoft Word is required.

Assistant to the publisher will work closely with publisher Paige Wery. They should be interested in running the business side of a small but growing magazine. The main duties will include public relations and outreach work including help in organizing events, building emails, distribution updates, updating artillerymag.com, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and some clerical work.

Skills:
Editors Assistant: Software program knowledge of Microsoft Word is required. Must be knowledgeable in social media and comfortable talking on the phone.
